Advario, VFlowTech, and JTC sign MOU to scale up clean energy storage on Jurong Island

Advario, VFlowTech, and JTC Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the deployment of clean energy storage solutions on Jurong Island. This collaboration aims to significantly expand the Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRFB) capacity by up to 25 times the initial pilot capacity, targeting 40MWh—enough to power over 3,000 HDB residential flats daily.

The project leverages Advario’s existing tank infrastructure at its Singapore Chemical Terminal on Jurong Island. By scaling up the storage capacity, the initiative will play a crucial role in stabilising Singapore’s power grid. The increased energy storage can help capture excess renewable energy, such as solar power, and discharge it during peak demand periods, ensuring a more reliable and efficient energy supply.

This public-private partnership is part of the larger transformation of Jurong Island, following the Jurong Island Renewable Energy Request-for-Proposal (JI RFP) issued by the Energy Market Authority and JTC, with support from Enterprise Singapore. The collaboration also explores the use of recycled industrial waste to produce vanadium electrolytes, contributing to a circular economy and supporting Singapore’s transition to a low-carbon future.

Advario, headquartered in Rotterdam, expressed its gratitude to Her Excellency Anneke Adema, who officially witnessed this milestone occasion. The partnership with VFlowTech and JTC marks a significant step forward in advancing sustainable energy solutions in Singapore’s energy landscape.
