Bofort originates and enables unprecedented Carbon removal initiative
Swiss outdoor sports company Mammut has launched a CO2 removal initiative as part of its decarbonisation strategy, aiming to halve emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050. Central to this initiative is the collaboration with Carbonaide, a Finnish company specialising in concrete carbonisation technology, and ARC, a Danish waste management company.
The partnership was facilitated by Antwerp-based Bofort, which connected ARC and Carbonaide. Working with integrator Regaco, Bofort ensures the efficient and safe delivery of CO2 captured by ARC to Carbonaide, where it is mineralised and stored in concrete. This process not only sequesters CO2 but also lowers cement consumption, leading to a reduced carbon footprint and cost savings in concrete production.
This project is part of Bofort’s wider efforts to reduce CO2 levels through its extensive network and expertise in organising liquid CO2 supply chains. Such capabilities enable small and medium-scale projects to be executed safely and reliably today, with the potential for future scalability.
