Bretts Transport enjoys strong start to Q4

Wisbech-based Bretts Transport is experiencing a strong start to the final quarter of 2024, despite challenges faced by the haulage and warehousing industries over the past year. The company has seen a notable rise in volumes, driven by several significant new contracts, particularly in the ambient and packaging sectors, which are core markets for Bretts.

This surge in demand aligns with Bretts’ recent business developments, including the introduction of a new modelling strategy designed to streamline operations and support the company’s long-term sustainability goals. The strategy focuses on optimising the consolidation process, increasing pallet deliveries per destination, reducing unnecessary trips, and cutting overall mileage, which in turn boosts operational efficiency and minimises the company’s carbon footprint.

The company’s innovative approach has been a key factor in its positive start to Q4, improving agility and scalability while positioning Bretts to meet both current and future customer expectations. This operational shift has also played a role in helping Bretts secure a coveted AA grade for Storage and Distribution in its latest BRCGS audit.

Managing Director Simon Brett is optimistic about the company’s future, stating: “We’re delighted to have had such a positive start to Q4. The significant uptick in volumes, coupled with a series of high-profile contract wins, has put Bretts in a strong position to finish the calendar year on a high and start 2025 on a positive note.”

Simon credits the company’s recent success to continuous improvements across its operations and services, which have provided a competitive edge in the marketplace. “Our new modelling strategy is making us leaner and more responsive to customer needs. This new mode of operating allows us to better utilise resources and improve service levels for both new and long-standing customers,” he added.

In addition to enhancing customer service and operational efficiency, Bretts’ new strategy has also delivered environmental benefits. The company has already reduced its carbon emissions by six per cent and expects further reductions of three per cent after the first full year of the strategy’s implementation.

“Our new way of working is not only providing increased flexibility to customers and maximising fleet efficiency, but it’s also helping us to meet our sustainability goals. We’re confident that as we refine our processes, we will continue to achieve greater emission reductions while maintaining the high levels of service our customers expect,” Simon concluded.

Bretts Transport’s innovative approach and strong performance in Q4 position the company well for continued success into 2025.
