Demand for LNG fuelled vessels continues to grow

The multi-sector industry coalition SEA-LNG has recognised “significant growth” in LNG-fuelled vessel orders in 2021 and expects this trend to continue.

LNG-fuelled vessel orders are approaching 30 percent of gross tonnage on order, SEA-LNG reports, citing Clarksons.

When these vessels are delivered, it said it will amount to a substantial part of shipping’s overall capacity.

LNG-powered ships are one of the only options today that meet the reduced emissions requirements, therefore, major sectors of the maritime industry are using those in efforts to reduce both local and global emissions.
