Hanseatic Global Terminals acquires majority stake in terminal operator in Le Havre

Hanseatic Global Terminals successfully completed the acquisition of 60 percent of the shares in CNMP LH from Seafrigo Group. CNMP LH operated the Atlantique container terminal in Le Havre, France, as an independent company serving customers worldwide. The remaining 40 percent of the shares in CNMP LH continued to be held by Seafrigo Group, a company specialising in temperature-controlled food logistics. The contracting parties agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction.

Le Havre ranked among the ten largest ports in Europe and served as the most significant port for sea transport to and from France, handling an annual container throughput of three million TEU. The port also offered excellent hinterland connections to Paris. The container throughput of the CNMP LH terminal was expected to grow in the coming years, particularly in the reefer container segment.

Dheeraj Bhatia, CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals, stated that acquiring a majority stake in the CNMP LH terminal in Le Havre strengthened the company’s position in one of its core European markets. He emphasised that the acquisition contributed to the expansion of HGT’s global terminal portfolio and facilitated targeted investments to enhance efficiency, aligning with the company’s Strategy 2030.

Eric Barbé, President of Seafrigo Group, expressed satisfaction in having Hanseatic Global Terminals as a strong partner in the continued modernisation of the CNMP LH terminal. He highlighted that this partnership would significantly enhance the terminal’s profile as a key gateway for container transport in the Port of Le Havre.

Terminal and infrastructure investments remained a crucial component of Hanseatic Global Terminals’ strategic agenda, as the company aimed to develop its portfolio and expand to more than 30 terminals by 2030.
