Kajudvidelse raises storage capacity in Aalborg by almost 28,000 square metres

Sharply increasing demand for quay storage capacity and growth in project goods means that the Port of Aalborg is now launching a quay expansion at Østhavnen.

The country’s largest inland port will thus soon send a major construction project out for tender, which involves a quay extension of 100 metres and the establishment of an associated terminal area of a total of 27,800 square metres.

Commercial manager Michael Rosenkilde Lind said: “We have experienced a sharp increase in demand for a long time for quayside areas from companies with both short- and long-term storage needs, and we see no sign that the interest is decreasing.

“On the contrary, we expect a continuing increase in demand from both North Jutland companies and project customers. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that we expand our quay services so that we can also in the future offer the business community the best framework for their logistics chains.”

The construction phase is expected to start in August, and the expectation is that the new quay area will be in use on March 1, 2022.
