Major Bangladeshi conglomerate selects Wärtsilä cargo handling system for new LPG Carrier vessel
Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, a subsidiary of the Wärtsilä technology group, has secured an order to deliver a comprehensive cargo handling system for a new fully pressurised LPG carrier being constructed for Meghna Fresh LPG, part of Bangladesh’s Meghna Group of Industries. This conglomerate is a major industrial player in the country, overseeing the shipyard where the vessel is being built and owning the energy industries the carrier will serve. The order was officially booked in October 2024.
The Wärtsilä solution encompasses engineering, materials, and supervision for the cargo handling system. The material scope includes deck machinery, LPG piping, instrumentation, and interface components linking the cargo tanks to the hull, alongside the cargo control system. Wärtsilä will also provide on-site assistance during construction, including supervision, commissioning, and gas trials.
This project builds on Wärtsilä’s strong relationship with Meghna Group, marking their fifth collaboration. Knut-Erik Heggem, sales manager at Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, commented:
“This latest order represents an endorsement of the continuous support, the quality of our product designs, and the functionality of the systems that Wärtsilä delivers. Bangladesh is a rapidly developing country, and we at Wärtsilä are honoured to contribute to this growth with our solutions.”
The vessel is designed to operate across inland rivers and deep-sea oceans, tailored to meet both operational environments. Delivery is scheduled for 2026, reinforcing Wärtsilä’s contribution to Bangladesh’s growing energy infrastructure.
