Port of Gothenburg launches new onshore power facility at energy port

The Port of Gothenburg proudly announced the official launch of its new onshore power facility at the Energy Port, marking the completion of the Green Cable project. This state-of-the-art facility allows tankers to connect to green electricity while at berth, significantly reducing CO2 emissions by replacing traditional marine diesel with sustainable power.

The facility, designed for an explosion-prone environment, is equipped with advanced safety systems to protect both personnel and vessels. A unique overpressure system for electrical equipment ensures a safe and stable power supply. Extensive testing, including safety checks and high-voltage simulations, was meticulously conducted to meet the highest safety standards and guarantee secure operations.

The Port of Gothenburg thanked its partners, shipping companies, and attendees of the inauguration for their ongoing support. This achievement sets a new standard for sustainable maritime operations and highlights the port’s commitment to reducing environmental impact.
