Trifleet Leasing cooperates with CIMC in developing a safer gas tank
In collaboration with its partner CIMC, Trifleet has received its first batch of newly built T50 gas tanks featuring vertical V-shaped baffles, marking a significant enhancement in safety and operational efficiency. This innovative design substantially reduces safety risks associated with tank entry, facilitating easier access for inspections and maintenance. Additionally, in the event of an emergency, the vertical baffle configuration allows for quicker and more effective assistance or recovery of personnel.
The new design also offers an improved surface coverage of 60 percent to 65 percent, a notable increase from the 50 percent coverage found in current models. This enhancement supports better stabilisation of the product within the tank, reducing the movement, or “sloshing,” that occurs during sudden driving conditions like braking or cornering. Such stabilisation is crucial for maintaining the safe transportation of materials.
Trifleet, as part of the GATX group, remains committed to sustainable excellence and prioritises the safety and well-being of its employees and the broader community. The company continually seeks to advance safety measures and contribute to a safer, more sustainable global supply chain.
A key safety challenge in the industry is the risk posed by confined space entry during tank inspections, maintenance, or cleaning. These spaces present hazards such as oxygen deficiency, potential exposure to harmful substances, and explosion risks. Regulatory bodies have enforced stricter procedures for confined space entry to address these dangers. In response, Trifleet, in partnership with CIMC, developed this advanced vertical baffle design, demonstrating its dedication to innovation and safety leadership.
The schematic illustrations of the vertical baffle setup show how these plates are strategically installed inside the tanks to stabilise the product and mitigate sloshing. Unlike horizontal baffles, which can make it challenging to rescue an unconscious person, vertical baffles significantly reduce recovery time and effort, enhancing overall safety and response capability.
