Union Pacific awards over $5.2 Million to 487 local nonprofit organisations across the railroad’s network

Union Pacific Railroad’s Community Ties Giving Programme has awarded over $5.2 million in grants to 487 nonprofit organisations across its 23-state network, benefiting local communities where the railroad operates and its employees reside.

These grants, ranging from $5,000 to $30,000, are designed to support initiatives that align with the railroad’s giving priorities, including safety, workforce development, community vitality, and environmental sustainability. The funding is expected to positively impact millions of individuals by fostering safer neighbourhoods, providing students with exposure to future career opportunities, revitalising parks, and launching new environmental initiatives.

“Union Pacific believes in the power of local, grassroots organisations to create positive and meaningful change in communities,” stated Union Pacific president Beth Whited. “We are proud to support these nonprofits, which share our commitment to building safe and vibrant communities for today’s families and for future generations.”

The application period for Community Ties Giving Grants opens annually in April, featuring a competitive process to ensure all eligible entities have a fair chance to apply. More information about the programme and application details can be found at up.com/CommunityTies.
