Van den Bosch expands and Greens technical department at Europoort
Van den Bosch has taken another step in its sustainability journey with the opening of a renovated and expanded Technical Department at its Europoort site. The facility has been enlarged by 1,200 square metres and upgraded with a range of environmentally friendly features, underlining the company’s ambition to position itself as a sustainable service provider.
“With the greening of our Technical Department, we are further developing ourselves as a sustainable service provider,” said Jos Stadthouders, Site Manager at Europoort.
The expansion has created eleven additional lanes, alongside a new office, canteen, warehouse, changing room, and sawmill. Two underground water tanks have been installed to collect rainwater, which is now used to wash containers. In addition, solar panels have been fitted across the entire roof surface of the new building.
“Our Technical Department ensures every day that our equipment is optimally deployable, under the best conditions,” added Antony van Lierop, manager of the technical department. “Thanks to our modern workshops under our own control, we can respond quickly to breakdowns and maintenance requirements, while also using our knowledge to innovate in the equipment of tomorrow.”
Technicians play a central role in keeping Van den Bosch’s operations moving. “Without them, everything literally comes to a standstill,” noted Stadthouders. “These latest investments have given our Technical Department a huge boost, allowing us to look after our growing container fleet even better.”
The expansion at Europoort follows earlier improvements to Van den Bosch’s workshop in Erp. The Erp location has hosted a workshop for the company’s own equipment since 1971 and was further developed after the acquisition of Rotterdam’s Jumbotainers in 2003. Container maintenance was consolidated at Europoort in 2016, while the bodywork workshop in Erp was integrated into the regular facility. “With the new adjustments and enlargement, we have taken yet another step forward and are ready for the future,” Stadthouders concluded.
