EXMAR awarded FLNG marine operations and maintenance contract by Cedar
EXMAR has been selected by Cedar LNG Partners LP to provide marine and operational expertise for the Floating Liquefaction of Natural Gas Unit, megúgu, marking a significant partnership in what will become the world’s first Indigenous majority-owned LNG facility.
Cedar, which is majority-owned by Haisla Nation in partnership with Pembina Pipeline Corporation, is developing a groundbreaking facility powered by renewable electricity. The project is positioned to achieve one of the lowest carbon intensity profiles among LNG facilities globally. Located in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, within the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation, Cedar’s FLNG is currently under construction at Samsung Heavy Industries.

As a pioneer in owning, operating and maintaining innovative floating LNG infrastructure assets, EXMAR has been entrusted with the management of marine operations and maintenance for the facility. The company’s responsibilities will include developing dedicated operational procedures specifically designed for FLNG megúgu. EXMAR’s teams will be engaged throughout multiple phases of the project, beginning immediately during construction and pre-operations, working in close partnership with the Cedar team to contribute industry-leading expertise and know-how.
The engagement represents an important milestone for EXMAR, aligning with the company’s established track record in operational excellence of sophisticated floating LNG assets.
