Wison New Energies begins topsides fabrication for Sakarya Gas Field Phase 3

Wison New Energies has officially commenced topsides fabrication for Phase 3 of the Sakarya Gas Field development project on behalf of Türkiye Petrolleri A.O. (TPAO), marking another major milestone following the project’s first steel cutting earlier this year.

The floating production unit (FPU), which forms the core facility for the Sakarya Gas Field Phase 3 development, will integrate gas processing, compression and export functions. The facility is being designed with a gas export capacity of 25 million standard cubic metres per day (SCMD).

According to the company, the project’s main functional modules are scheduled to complete lifting operations by June 2027. Once delivered, the FPU is expected to play a key role in supporting stable production from the Sakarya Gas Field, strengthening Türkiye’s domestic natural gas supply capabilities and contributing to regional energy security.

Wison New Energies said the project is being executed using its international project management systems and offshore engineering expertise, with continued collaboration between TPAO and project partners focused on ensuring safe and efficient delivery.

The company added that the project is intended to serve as a benchmark development within the deepwater floating production unit sector while supporting the broader sustainable development of the global energy industry.
