EXMAR advances green shipping with new ammonia-fuelled gas carrier
EXMAR has announced the keel laying of its latest ammonia-powered midsize gas carrier, H8392, at the dry dock of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, marking a key milestone in the vessel’s construction programme.
The keel laying ceremony represents an important stage in the build of the ammonia-fuelled gas carrier, which is being developed as part of EXMAR’s broader strategy to advance low-carbon energy transportation solutions. The vessel is designed to support the company’s ongoing transition toward cleaner marine fuels and more sustainable shipping operations.
Once completed, the midsize gas carrier is expected to play a role in enabling alternative fuel transport, with ammonia emerging as a key component in future decarbonised energy supply chains.
EXMAR noted that the project reflects its continued commitment to developing innovative shipping solutions aligned with global energy transition goals. The company added that it looks forward to welcoming the vessel into its fleet upon completion.
The company also encouraged stakeholders to follow further updates as construction progresses on the ammonia-powered newbuild.
