Increased frequency on rail service between CSP Zeebrugge and Strasbourg

Zeebrugge, a port with excellent maritime access, is ambitious in optimising its accessibility on the land side. The port authority is working with various partners and players on the market to make rail transport even more attractive and competitive.

Naviland Cargo and CSP Zeebrugge have now increased the frequency between the port and the eastern French rail hub of Strasbourg through a partnership between Naviland Cargo, CSP Zeebrugge and the Zeebrugge port authority.

“We have increased the capacity of the rail connection with our hub in Strasbourg,” said Lindsy Mertens from the Antwerp office of the French combined transport operator.

“The Strasbourg region has many forwarders and is therefore important for the development of the hinterland network of Zeebrugge,” chief officer logistics & sales, Johan Abel of Port of Zeebrugge said. “Intermodal connections are often a chicken-and-egg story where charterers wait for carriers and vice versa. By making that connection more competitive in partnership, we break that vicious circle.”
