BW LNG completes acquisition of two TFDE vessels from Stena Bulk

BW LNG has announced the successful acquisition of two high-specification Tri-Fuel Diesel Electric propulsion vessels from the renowned Swedish tanker shipping company Stena Bulk. These sister LNG carriers boast exceptional versatility and trading capabilities, with the potential for conversion into Floating Storage and Regasification Units in the future. This acquisition propels BW LNG’s owned fleet to 34 vessels, including four FSRUs and four newbuildings currently under construction.

Built in 2011 at Hanwha Ocean (formerly Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering), South Korea, the now Singapore-flagged BW ENN Crystal Sky (formerly Stena Crystal Sky) and BW Clear Sky (formerly Stena Clear Sky) have a carrying capacity of 174,000 cbm. Equipped with retrofitted subcooler-systems, these vessels offer significant cargo capacity and operational flexibility.

Both BW Clear Sky and BW ENN Crystal Sky will be seamlessly integrated into their ongoing charters.

Petter Lindvig Larssøn, EVP for LNG Shipping at BW LNG, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “BW LNG is delighted to welcome BW Clear Sky and BW ENN Crystal Sky to our fleet of now 34 LNG carriers and FSRUs. This is an exciting growth opportunity for us; acquiring high specification vessels on the water with solid charters to existing key clients. In BW LNG, we are committed to developing strategic floating LNG infrastructure to accelerate the global transition towards a low carbon society.”
