Enhancing tank container visibility with telematics

Trifleet is highlighting the growing role of telematics in improving visibility and operational control across global tank container supply chains, as operators increasingly seek real-time insights to support safety, efficiency and fleet management.

The company said telematics technology is transforming the way tank containers are monitored by providing near real-time data that can assist with operational decision-making, asset tracking and condition monitoring.

At the core of the system is a Communication & Location Terminal (CLT), which enables live tracking of tank containers. According to Trifleet, the technology helps improve fleet utilisation, operational planning and asset visibility while reducing the risk of lost or misplaced equipment.

The company works with telematics suppliers to provide certified hardware and technical support, allowing customers greater transparency across their fleets. Trifleet said its preferred supplier offers global network coverage, enabling tank containers to be tracked across multiple regions worldwide.

The telematics hardware used by the company complies with several international safety and quality standards, including CE, ATEX IIC, ISO9001, ISO27001 and ISO27017 certifications. These standards are designed to ensure safe operation in hazardous environments while supporting data security and operational reliability.

Trifleet also offers customers flexibility in how telematics systems are managed. Operators can either work with their own telematics providers or have Trifleet coordinate supplier management and hardware integration.

According to the company, data ownership remains fully with customers, while a digital platform provides access to real-time information including container location, operational status, asset utilisation and, where applicable, condition monitoring data.

Trifleet said the use of telematics can help tank container operators improve safety standards, optimise fleet performance and respond more effectively to operational changes, supporting a more connected and efficient logistics network.
