ExxonMobil discharges 50m litres of Diesel for Victoria at Port of Melbourne

The Largo Eagle medium-range tanker has discharged approximately 50 million litres of additional ultra-low sulphur diesel for Victoria, arriving at Port of Melbourne from Louisiana on Wednesday, 22 April.

The delivery represents enough diesel to fill the fuel tanks of every Hilux sold in Australia over the past decade.

Port of Melbourne’s tenant, ExxonMobil Australia, is one of the country’s major fuel suppliers, providing almost half of Victoria’s fuel requirements.

“We commend ExxonMobil for its proactive and steadfast approach in securing and delivering this fuel, providing important support to industry, freight operators and the wider Victorian economy,” said Saul Cannon, Port of Melbourne chief executive officer.

Port of Melbourne plays a critical role in supporting fuel security for Victoria during a period of heightened pressure across global supply chains.

“During this period of uncertainty across global supply chains, Port of Melbourne is committed to its position as the largest container and general cargo port in the nation,” added Mr Cannon. “The port will continue to engage with industry and government to support operational continuity and ensure it remains a reliable gateway for essential goods.”
