KEZAD Group signs lease agreement with APT for automotive aluminium component manufacturing plant


KEZAD Group, the largest operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones, along with Al Ghurair Group subsidiary Automotive Precision Technology (APT), announced the signing of a lease agreement for an automotive aluminium component manufacturing facility.

The advanced manufacturing facility, spanning 30,000 square metres, will be strategically positioned in KEZAD adjacent to Emirates Global Aluminium, one of the world’s largest aluminium manufacturers. The facility is scheduled to commence operations by early 2025.

The signing ceremony was graced by His Excellency Omar Al Suwaidi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, UAE, along with senior officials from the Ministry, Al Ghurair Group, and APT.

His Excellency Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, expressed satisfaction at the partnership, highlighting its alignment with the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology and the Make it in the Emirates initiative. He emphasised the contribution of such collaborations to the UAE’s industrial ecosystem, export growth, and economic diversification.

Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO Economic Cities & Free Zones, AD Ports Group, expressed pride in hosting APT in KEZAD, underscoring the facility’s significance in strengthening the automotive value chain and localising ancillary supply chains, thereby contributing to the local economy and technological advancement.

Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of KEZAD Group, welcomed the APT facility, affirming its role in bolstering KEZAD’s metals and automotive ecosystem. He highlighted KEZAD’s world-class facilities and infrastructure, including specialty corridors like the Hot Metal road, which facilitate efficient operations and environmental sustainability.

Aron Majgier, CEO of APT, reiterated the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in aluminium extrusion for the automotive industry. He expressed confidence in becoming the global supplier of choice, thanks to the reliable supply of premium quality aluminium from EGA and APT’s focus on quality and efficiency.

Iyad Malas, CEO of Al Ghurair Group, emphasised the group’s dedication to manufacturing innovation and its contribution to the UAE’s economic vision. He noted the growing demand for aluminium components, driven by lightweighting requirements of BEVs, and expressed optimism about APT’s future growth.

The APT project has received substantial support from federal and local government entities under the Make it in the Emirates programme, showcasing collaborative efforts towards economic advancement and industrial excellence.
