Louisiana International Terminal Holdings LLC formally incorporated, advancing transformational container terminal project in St. Bernard Parish

The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA), Ports America, and Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), part of the MSC Group, have announced the incorporation of Louisiana International Terminal Holdings LLC. The joint venture will operate the Louisiana International Terminal (LIT), a next-generation container facility in St. Bernard Parish.

The milestone marks a key step in positioning Louisiana as a major global trade gateway. Port NOLA will oversee the terminal’s design and construction, while the joint venture will manage operations.

Strategically designed to handle the largest container vessels in the Gulf, the terminal is expected to boost cargo capacity, strengthen supply chains, and expand export opportunities.

According to a study by Greater New Orleans, Inc., the project will deliver significant economic benefits. At full buildout, LIT is projected to generate approximately $33.3 million in new annual tax revenue, an increase of around 64 percent for St. Bernard Parish, and support more than 4,300 additional jobs, representing a 37 percent rise in local employment.

The development is also expected to drive broader economic growth across Louisiana and the United States, reinforcing its importance as national infrastructure.
