Merkland Tank announces appointment of new managing director

Glasgow-based industrial tank cleaning and maintenance specialist, Merkland Tank, is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Hotchkiss as managing director, with immediate effect.

Acquired by equity investor Nevis in 2017, and with origins dating back over 100 years, Merkland Tank provides a range of industrial services associated with tanks and vessels. Typical works include tank cleaning, inspection, repair, installation, and decommissioning. Clients include Oil and Pipelines Agency, Nynas UK AB, Babcock, Amey, Balfour Beatty and Scottish Power.

Colin joins Merkland from Loxam where, most recently, he was divisional and UK fulfilment director, primarily responsible for HSE, engineering, and transport and logistics across Loxam’s powered access division.

Prior to that he was managing director at well-known plant and site equipment provider Garic, and also held key positions with Finning UK spanning 11 years, including divisional general manager, where he had strategic, operational and commercial responsibility for the power systems division into a number of global market segments.

Ian Buchan, partner at Nevis, said: “We’re delighted that Colin is joining the business to support us to achieve our long-term goals. He has a wealth of experience of growing industrial services businesses across the UK and we look forward to working with him and the rest of the team to continue to deliver for our customers.”
