Metso receives repeat order to replace and modernise railcar dumper in Asia Pacific

Metso has been awarded a repeat order for the replacement and modernisation of a railcar dumper for a mining customer in the Asia Pacific region. The contract includes the delivery of a fully assembled new dumper cage, incorporating significant upgrades aimed at increasing throughput, improving maintainability, and reducing material spillage.

The latest order represents the second phase of collaboration with the same customer, with the first railcar dumper line upgrade currently progressing through its delivery stage. The order value exceeds EUR 10 million and has been recorded in Metso’s Minerals segment order intake for the first quarter of 2026.

According to Metso, the customer previously benefited from an upgrade to its first railcar dumper line and has maintained its railcar handling systems with the company for many years. This continued engagement has resulted in the selection of Metso once again to modernise the second dumper line.

Kai Rönnberg, vice president of sales and service at Metso, stated that the repeat order reflects strong customer confidence in the company’s railcar dumping technology and long-term service partnership. He added that the collaboration demonstrates trust built through sustained performance and support across previous projects.

Sushanta Dutta, vice president of bulk material handling at Metso, noted that the company’s solutions enable customers to access advanced technology while improving operational safety and reducing environmental impact. He emphasised that the system is designed to support production targets with high reliability and long-term sustainable performance.

Metso highlighted its extensive experience in railcar dumper technology, noting that its equipment has been regarded as a global benchmark in dumper design since the early 20th century. The company uses advanced engineering tools and manufacturing processes to ensure precision and compliance with strict quality standards.

Railcar dumpers form a key part of Metso’s bulk material handling portfolio, supporting efficient unloading operations in mining applications. With more than 8,000 bulk material handling installations worldwide, Metso continues to position itself as a major provider in the sector, further strengthened by the acquisition of MRA Automation.

The company also emphasised its global service network, including a strong presence in the Asia Pacific region, where strategically located service centres provide localised support, maintenance, and aftermarket services. This structure is intended to ensure lifecycle support and operational continuity for customers across multiple regions.

Metso stated that it remains focused on delivering solutions that improve energy and water efficiency, increase productivity, and reduce environmental risks across the minerals processing and metals refining industries.
