MSC at Breakbulk Europe 2026: From Planning to Execution

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is set to participate in Breakbulk Europe 2026, one of the world’s leading events for the project cargo and breakbulk industry.

Drawing on more than five decades of experience in handling oversized and complex cargo, MSC will use the event to highlight its tailored transport solutions for project cargo, breakbulk and out-of-gauge (OOG) shipments worldwide. The company’s project cargo specialists will be available throughout the exhibition to discuss logistics strategies and share expertise in managing challenging cargo operations across global markets.

A key feature of MSC’s presence at the event will be the presentation of a major rail transport project linking Port of Antwerp and Alexandria. The operation involves the transportation of trainsets destined for Cairo’s expanding metro network. The first shipment included nine railcars, each weighing up to 40 tonnes and measuring 22 metres in length.

The broader programme is expected to involve the transport of 495 railcars between 2025 and 2028. Once operational, the new trainsets are expected to support Cairo’s urban transport system, which serves approximately 2.5 million passengers daily.

Visitors to MSC’s stand will also be able to view a scaled railcar model replicating the project cargo shipment, demonstrating the scale and precision involved in the operation.

During the event, Axel van Pul will participate in an industry panel discussion titled “The Fleet Capacity Question: Shortage, Oversupply or Market Reset?” scheduled for June 16th. The session will examine supply and demand trends affecting breakbulk and project cargo carriers.

MSC will additionally showcase a series of digital experiences designed to provide visitors with behind-the-scenes insights into some of the company’s notable project cargo movements carried out in recent years. The interactive displays aim to highlight the logistical complexity involved in transporting oversized cargo across international supply chains.

Alongside its exhibition activities, MSC will also host the MSC Breakbulk Europe Party 2026 on June 17th, bringing together industry stakeholders for networking and entertainment during the event.
