New future for Fleetwood and Silloth ports with Fox Group deal

Associated British Ports has announced that it has reached an agreement with Fox Group for the acquisition of its ports in Fleetwood and Silloth, pending regulatory approvals. This acquisition marks a new, positive chapter for both ports, their users, and the surrounding communities, representing a significant development in the strengthening of both companies’ respective business strategies.

Fox Jackson Ports, established for the acquisition, is part of Fox Group, a fourth-generation, family-owned construction services, logistics, and property group headquartered in the northwest. The acquisition is aimed at supporting Fox Group’s sustainable growth trajectory and facilitating the movement of more aggregates via sea.

The ports of Fleetwood and Silloth have been integral to the region for many years, and Fox ownership will bring new opportunities for growth and investment, contributing to the wider economic development of the region.

The Fox Group’s vision is to continue operating both Fleetwood and Silloth as working ports, handling cargo, and providing services to maritime customers, including marina users. They will also explore additional value-adding opportunities to develop the ports further. The focus of the deal is on growth.

ABP is dedicated to working with Fox to support the long-term employment of employees at Fleetwood and Silloth and ensure compliance with all legislative processes. Both companies will engage with staff at both locations throughout the acquisition process to assist in understanding any impacts.
