The container terminal operator at the Port of Gothenburg, APM Terminals, has introduced a new rail freight shuttle connecting Helsingborg with the Port of Gothenburg, marking a step toward integrating the port more closely into the Helsingborg region’s logistics network.
The shuttle service, owned by APM Terminals and operated by Dania Connect, enables container transport between Helsingborg in southern Sweden and Gothenburg in approximately five hours.

According to Mathias Weismann Poulsen, Chief Commercial Officer at APM Terminals Nordic, the initiative is intended to generate business value for importers and exporters in the Helsingborg area, with strong interest already observed from shipping lines and local cargo owners.
The Port of Gothenburg is currently linked by rail to nearly 30 locations across Sweden. In 2025, a record 529,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) were transported to or from the port by rail. The addition of the new shuttle is expected to support continued growth within this network.
Claes Sundmark, Vice President Sales & Marketing at the Port of Gothenburg, noted that the integrated rail connection to the container terminal enhances the Helsingborg region’s ability to access global markets, while also strengthening the port’s overall service offering.
The service commenced in February with one weekly departure and is expected to expand to three departures per week in the near future.
