PD Ports receives second shipment for SeAH Wind Ltd Monopile Manufacturing Plant

Last week, PD Ports received the second shipment of project cargo destined for the SeAH Wind Ltd. Monopile Manufacturing Plant on Teesside. This cargo plays a crucial role in constructing the facility’s overhead cranes, essential infrastructure for facilitating their operations. Once fully operational, the factory aims to produce up to 200 monopiles annually to support offshore wind turbines in the North Sea.

Some of the pieces in this shipment weigh in excess of 110 tonnes and stretch over 48 metres in length. To handle such massive and complex cargo, PD Ports deployed their two new rail-mounted, electric-powered Liebherr cranes. These cranes, operated by PD Ports’ highly skilled team, executed multiple tandem lifts with precision and safety throughout the discharge process.

Collaborating closely with Cargo King (U.K.) Limited and Allelys Heavy Haulage, PD Ports ensured a seamless discharge from quay to facility, underscoring their commitment to facilitating projects of significant importance.

At PD Ports, they recognise that every cargo is unique, requiring tailored handling solutions. With a wealth of experience and a proven track record in handling a diverse range of cargoes, their highly skilled team ensures efficient and smooth operations. By leveraging experienced stevedores, advanced cranage, and specialist equipment, PD Ports consistently meets and exceeds customer expectations.

As a key player in driving inward investment and economic growth in the Tees Valley, PD Ports remains dedicated to collaborating with customers, key partners, and stakeholders. Together, they aim to position the River Tees at the forefront of the energy transition in the UK, contributing to the region’s prosperity and sustainability goals.
