Port of Tarragona prepares for sixth edition of the Med Hub Day

The sixth edition of the Med Hub Day, organised by the Port of Tarragona and sponsored by the ChedMed cluster, will be held on November 10 and 11 at Tinglado 1 of the Moll de Costa. This edition will be marked by a return to the 100 percent face-to-face format, in a port environment, free of charge, and with a programme full of experts linked to the sector.

The Port Authority of Tarragona, the organiser of the event, has included for this edition the motto “Be a hub in the era of energy transition” under which all the conferences and round tables will pivot. Aligned with this motto, the Port of Tarragona will incorporate topics on new fuels and energy sectors, such as hydrogen and its importance due to the Hydrogen Valley of Catalonia.

The round tables on liquid terminals and petrochemical companies, which were highly rated by the public in previous editions, will continue. The APT will continue to bet on conferences in the areas of rail-port intramodality and bunkering, two of the commercial objectives of the Port of Tarragona.

The aim of the VI Med Hub Day is to promote, debate and exchange information about the strengths and opportunities offered by the Mediterranean Sea as a logistics platform for chemical and petrochemical products.

With this objective, operators of storage terminals, ports, consignees, freight forwarders, market analysts and chemical and petrochemical companies will meet to debate and contribute ideas and innovations where bunkering, new fuels and energies, and the intramodality will take centre stage.

The Med Hub Day began in 2017, and has since enjoyed an increasing number of attendees, achieving consolidation and maturity among the events of the sector. The last edition (hybrid – face-to-face and online) brought together more than 100 attendees.

The Port of Tarragona is a Mediterranean hub for the storage and distribution of liquid bulk products which supports the local industry with first-class facilities and infrastructure for storage services.

The Camp de Tarragona area is considered one of the main logistics hubs for the production, storage and distribution of petrochemical products in southern Europe. The strategic location and its infrastructures allow us to respond to any logistical need with an efficient distribution of all types of petrochemical products by ship, train, truck or pipeline.

The set of companies in the chemical and petrochemical industry in Tarragona generates an annual production of 20 million tonnes, which represents 50 percent of Catalonia’s production and 25 percent of the entire state.
