Royal visit highlights Amsterdam’s role in the maritime hydrogen corridor

During the State Visit to the Netherlands, His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain and His Majesty King Willem Alexander honoured the Port of Amsterdam with their presence, marking a significant moment for the region’s hydrogen sector. The distinguished guests and their delegations were briefed on the progress of a maritime hydrogen corridor linking the ports of Bilbao and Amsterdam, a crucial initiative aligning with the European Union’s energy security goals and the broader decarbonisation agenda.

The establishment of this intra-European corridor holds promise for bolstering energy security within the EU while advancing decarbonisation efforts across vital local, national, and European industries. Representatives from selected companies had the opportunity to engage with the Kings, sharing insights into their aspirations, ongoing initiatives, and requirements to facilitate the transition to a hydrogen economy.
