Sallaum Lines marks a historic double delivery with the MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator
Sallaum Lines has marked a major milestone in its fleet expansion strategy with the simultaneous delivery of two new Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator. The vessels join the company’s growing Ocean Class fleet and represent the most significant single-day achievement in the programme to date.
The delivery ceremony was attended by the company’s founder, chairman and senior executives, underscoring Sallaum Lines’ ongoing commitment to expanding its fleet with modern, fuel-efficient vessels capable of supporting diverse cargo requirements across global trade routes.
Constructed by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard and registered under the Cyprus flag, both vessels feature a capacity of 7,400 car equivalent units (CEU) across 13 cargo decks. Designed for operational flexibility, the ships can accommodate a wide range of cargo, including passenger vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, high-clearance SUVs, rolling machinery and oversized project cargo.
The vessels offer maximum vehicle height and width clearances of 5.4 metres and 13.5 metres respectively. They have also been built with LNG fuel storage capacity in line with Ocean Class specifications, enabling extended voyage ranges while supporting improved environmental performance.
According to Sallaum Lines founder Ibrahim Sallaum, the addition of two vessels on the same day reflects the company’s long-term vision and commitment to preparing for future opportunities and challenges in the maritime sector.
Both ships are powered by LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems and incorporate energy-efficient technologies designed to exceed current International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulatory requirements. The vessels are expected to deliver significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants while maintaining the operational flexibility required for long-haul shipping operations.
The delivery also highlights the growing importance of China within Sallaum Lines’ global business strategy, serving both as a key export market and a strategic shipbuilding partner.
The expansion comes as demand for the company’s roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) services has increasingly outpaced available fleet capacity in recent years. Sallaum Lines said the addition of MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator will help address capacity constraints, improve service reliability and provide customers with greater flexibility across its network.
The company has also strengthened its presence in the China-Europe trade corridor. During 2026, Sallaum Lines supported Chinese exports through eight sailings between the Far East and Europe, reflecting growing demand for reliable RoRo shipping services. Building on this momentum, the company plans to launch a dedicated China-Europe service in 2027.
Chairman Sami Sallaum said the vessel deliveries reinforce the company’s confidence in the long-term growth potential of the China-Europe trade lane and support continued investment in services and infrastructure to meet evolving customer requirements.
The two new vessels join MV Ocean Breeze, MV Ocean Explorer and MV Ocean Legacy as part of Sallaum Lines’ Ocean Class fleet. The next-generation PCTCs feature optimised hull designs, advanced automation technologies and flexible cargo configurations aimed at maximising operational efficiency and service reliability.
Following delivery, MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator will immediately enter commercial service, supporting Sallaum Lines’ expanding global RoRo network and serving customers in the automotive, commercial vehicle, heavy equipment and project cargo sectors.
With the latest fleet additions, Sallaum Lines continues to strengthen its position in the global RoRo market through investments in modern vessels, sustainable operations and long-term partnerships designed to support the changing demands of international trade.
