Sprint Transport breaks ground on new 22-acre site

The Texas-based chemical hauler, Sprint Transport, recently broke ground on a sprawling 22-acre site in the Greater Houston area that will include its new headquarters, a new maintenance shop, a tank-cleaning facility, and an ISO tank container depot, accelerating its evolution as a provider of comprehensive bulk supply chain and logistics services.

Josh Noworatzky, Sprint Transport president and CEO, said: “We’re not going anywhere.

“We’re committed to this market, so we are growing, we’re expanding—and we’re also getting into new lines of business.”

Sprint was previously headquartered in Pasadena, Texas, where it maintained a 6,000-square-foot terminal and six-bay shop situated on four acres. The company’s multi-million-dollar investment in nearby La Porte on Houston’s east side will include 19,000 sq ft of office space, and 30,000 sq ft for separate maintenance and tank-cleaning activities, Noworatzky said, and the new shop will feature eight drive-through bays.

The tank-cleaning facility will operate as Trident Tank Wash, a new subsidiary of Sprint.

Mr Noworatzky said: “Designing everything from scratch has been very educational, and we’re trying to make it as driver friendly as possible. We can plan the layout of the yard and everything else, which will help productivity, as well as safety, and on yard maintenance. And we’re investing heavily in the technology that will go into the shop and tank wash.

“The 22-acre site will be fully paved to support ISO tank storage and containment, and Trident will provide ISO tank cleaning services as well. We think there’s a big future for that business.”

Houston-based Kingham Dalton Wilson (KDW) is providing development, design, and construction services. Mr Noworatzky expects to begin moving into the new shop in December and to bring Trident online early next year, as well as celebrating the new headquarters with a grand opening in the second quarter of 2023.

Sprint also has terminals in Freeport and Nederland, Texas, as well as Saint Gabriel, Louisiana, where Mr Noworatzky said they’ll open their first Trident Tank Wash later in 2022.
