VTG establishes dedicated logistics and production divisions alongside its core leasing business

VTG GmbH has announced a comprehensive realignment of its business structure, introducing clear responsibilities within the management team and establishing three distinct operational divisions. The restructuring, which took effect on September 2, 2025, positions the company to better serve diverse market requirements while streamlining internal processes and accelerating decision-making capabilities.

The organisational transformation sees Michael Eckelsberger appointed as chief commercial officer for leasing, Dr. Martin Neese leading the newly formed Logistics Division, and Thomas Jäger heading the Production Division. This strategic realignment represents VTG’s commitment to strengthening its market position while placing customer needs more firmly at the centre of its operations.

Strategic Division Framework

The restructuring establishes VTG’s core Leasing business alongside two new divisions: logistics and production. Each division operates under dedicated executive leadership with governance models specifically tailored to address the unique dynamics and requirements of their respective market segments. This focused approach is designed to enable more agile responses to changing customer demands while driving sustainable growth across all business areas.

The new structure allows VTG to leverage specialised expertise within each division while maintaining coordinated strategic direction across the organisation. By creating clear lines of responsibility and authority, the company aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer service delivery.

Leadership Appointments and Vision

Michael Eckelsberger, who assumes responsibility for the leasing division—the company’s largest business unit—expressed his commitment to the role. “I look forward to further developing the leasing business together with my team and to strengthening our leading market position on a sustainable basis,” Eckelsberger stated.

Dr. Martin Neese, appointed as head of the logistics division, emphasised the strategic importance of the new structure. “The formation of the Logistics Division is a consequent next step in our success journey in rail logistics. I look forward to driving effectivity as well as efficiency together with our pan-European teams to yet unseen levels,” Neese explained.

Thomas Jäger, leading the production division, highlighted the focus on operational excellence. “Production at VTG stands for quality, reliability, and efficiency. By consolidating responsibility, we create the best conditions to meet the high expectations of our customers,” Jäger emphasised. The Production Division will concentrate on technical excellence to ensure VTG’s fleet remains competitive and future-ready.

Strategic Alignment and Future Direction

CEO Alberto Nobis positioned the realignment as a strategic step toward achieving VTG’s long-term objectives and establishing a sustainable foundation for future growth. The restructuring aligns the company’s organisational structure with its strategic vision while creating a framework designed to support long-term success.

The new divisional structure is intended to reinforce VTG’s role as a reliable partner for customers across Europe by ensuring each business area can respond effectively to specific market dynamics and customer requirements. By creating specialised focus areas while maintaining overall strategic coordination, VTG aims to enhance both operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

Market Positioning and Customer Focus

The restructuring reflects VTG’s commitment to addressing the evolving needs of the European rail and logistics markets. By establishing dedicated divisions with specialised leadership, the company is positioning itself to better serve diverse customer segments while maintaining the operational flexibility necessary to adapt to changing market conditions.

The new structure emphasises VTG’s dedication to operational excellence across all business areas, from leasing and logistics services to production capabilities. This comprehensive approach is designed to strengthen the company’s competitive position while ensuring sustainable growth and continued market leadership in the European rail services sector.

Through this strategic realignment, VTG demonstrates its commitment to organisational evolution and continuous improvement, creating a foundation for enhanced performance and expanded market opportunities in the years ahead.
